Aracne, Italy
ARACNE is a not for profit organisation founded in Naples in 2005 by a group of women after an experience of collaboration, still in progress, with the Department of Philosophy “A. Aliotta” of the University of Naples “Federico II”. ARACNE is an open and collaborative network of project designers, researchers, interactive and multimedia communication experts, trainers and social workers. It aims at promoting active citizenship, rights and people empowerment through a shared construction of knowledge, lifelong learning, communication and ICT. ARACNE produces methodologies and tools for the knowledge processes management. It develops research, training and consulting in the field of education, VET and orientation; of social interventions and equal opportunities policies; of gender differences of migration and interculturalism; of learning communities and territorial virtual networks. It develops and implements projects, initiatives and interventions at both local and transnational level, in collaboration with universities, research centers, associations, social cooperatives, SMEs, training centers, local institutions, public services, school.
Aracne is presentely taking part in many projects for the innovation of competences of Public Health professionals, among which the project T-Share.

Studieforbundet Folkeuniversitetet, Norway
Folkeuniversitetet (FU) is Norway’s largest provider of adult education. Annually around 100,000 participants sign up for one or more of 11,000 courses ranging from practical and theoretical trade-related education and language instruction to courses in cultural and leisure activities. FU aims to make leisure courses, basic and further education accessible to all adults, regardless of social or ethnic background. FU’s 11 regional offices and 100 local departments provide courses in more than 300 of the country’s municipalities. Everybody, including adults who have not yet completed an approved course of study, can attend the courses. The local departments offer in-service training as well as part-time courses.
Faculty of Health and Social Care, Kingston University and St George’s, University of London, United Kingdom
The faculty provides nursing, health and social care education programmes, through a partnership between St George’s, University of London and Kingston University. It offers undergraduate programmes in nursing, midwifery, radiography, physiotherapy, social work and foundation degree pathways in paramedic science and applied blood and tissues. More than 2,000 students a year register for training in the faculty. Postgraduate programmes advance professional knowledge and skills in an inter-professional context; an extensive continuing professional development framework offers flexible inter-professional pathways for specialist practice and skills development.
Mangfold i Arbeidslivet (MiA), Norway
MiA (Diversity at Work) is a non-profit foundation founded by organisations and companies in the public and private sectors . MIA aims to provide a network of skills and good practice and undertakes research in relation to immigrant workers in Norwegian companies and institutions. MiA has been involved in a number of European projects, managing the LdV pilot project “Improving economic and social integration of Pakistani women” (2000 – 2003) and acting as a member of the task force in “Gaining from diversity” (European Business Network of Social Cohesion). It has also been a partner in several other projects (Immigrants access to language and society (AITO); European Intercultural Workplace (EIW); Bridges and Tools for Diversity (TforD)). MiA has collected and published research reports on workplace and language training of immigrants. It has adapted training material for vocational training of immigrants and refugees and, with the University College of Oslo and Folkeuniversitetet, runs a course entitled “Integration of immigrants and refugees in the local community”.
Kreisvolkshochschule, Verden, Germany
Kreisvolkshochschule (KVHS) is an Adult Education Centre supported by the local government of the Landkreis of Verden, representing the local authority in matters of further education. The KVHS is accredited by the ARTSET, a nationally recognized, independent awarding body in Germany. It has 12 full-time personnel and 350 self-employed trainers committed to improving and developing training excellence. KVHS has four key priorities: vocational training, languages, cultural education and health care. Vocational training includes commercial courses, computer training and courses in home care for older people. Special modules, for example motivation seminars for managers are offered in response to requests from businesses. KVHS offers courses in more than 15 languages, with high levels of demand for English language training and increasingly for German as a foreign language. Of the 15,000 students who attend courses each year, around 80 per cent are women. There are increasing numbers of retired people attending courses as well as young people.
KVHS is involved in several European projects addressing a range of issues including employment, equality and lifelong learning (Leonardo).
Greta du Velay, France
The Greta du Velay is a regional group of 21 public educational establishments. Certified to the ISO 9001 standard, it employs specialised trainers to set up internal or external training in: audio-visual media, catering, cooking, tourism, building, healthcare, rural development, environment, services, languages, and industry. It co-ordinates a network of open learning centres in rural locations. Around 300,000 training hours are delivered each year. Greta’s expertise includes: training needs analysis, course design, community development, tutors training, and e-learning development. The Greta du Velay is a member of the Greta network of 288 such organisations and the network is one of the main training providers in France. It is also member of the local network of Greta Auvergne, and participates actively in the CReATIF network for the promotion of public internet access.
The Greta du Velay has developed expertise with target groups facing specific difficulties, for example, employment initiatives to facilitate participation of women and young people new to the job market. It has participated in the Leonardo AITO to facilitate the integration of immigrants (among other results is the production of free learning material – http://citim.velay.greta.fr – about work legislation). It is the French promoter and the disseminator of the European charter for social and digital inclusion. It also manages a resource centre for inclusion (http://diese.net) and eportfolio for inclusion (http://iportfolio.fr).
Studium Języków Obcych „Szuster”, Poland
Studium Języków Obcych „Szuster” (Language School „Szuster”) is one of the oldest and biggest language schools in Łódź region, established in 1972. For years we have built up a team of highly qualified and experienced teachers. We teach foreign languages such as: English, German, Spanish, French, Russian, Italian, Chinese, Polish for foreigners to all age groups but adults constitute a large part of our students.
Adult courses, mainly in English are divided into two kinds:
1) for working people
2) for 50+ retired people.
We also offer “tailor-made” language programmes for different institutions and companies. We provide examination services and are examination centres for TOEIC, TELC and we also prepare candidates for Cambridge ESOL examinations and are the institution recommended by the British Council. Additionally we organize ITC courses and workshops for adult students.

ASOCIAŢIA ‘EUROED’, Romania
The main purpose of the ’EUROED’ Association is to promote in accordance with the European standards the continuous learning of adults, as a way of improving the knowledge of the adults from the perspective of the new challenges and requirements that they will come across once Romania adhered to the European Union.
Due to its purposes, our organization has the following activities:
- organizing vocational training courses, mainly in the field of business undertaking/social-organizational field/IT field
- introducing in Romania the European certification standards Xpert/XpertMaster, Xpert PBS and EBC*L
- lobby and counsellling on matters concerning adult education /lifelong learning
- study visits and experience exchange with other European countries
- designing and implementation of various trans-national co-operations and European projects.
’EUROED’ Association was set up in 2005 , having as main objective the promotion at European standards of VET and of long life learning politics on the Romanian market. ’EUROED’ is new on the market, but our organization uses institutional materials and resources and experts in accordance with the European standards, already having collaborations with the most important European institutions from this domain.

CA-ME 2007-2009
Etterstad Vocational School (Etterstad videregående skole ), Norway
Etterstad Vocational School is situated in Oslo and is the only vocational school for cooks, waiters and bakers in the capital. Originally built to train cooks and chief stewards for the merchant marine, the school has been modernised recently and has extended its range of training programmes to include courses in technical and electrical subjects as well as catering services, hotel and food processing. There are around 600 students of whom 150 attend the hotel and food processing department, the department involved in this Leonardo project. This department trains cooks, waiters, bakers and meat-processors. Students trained at the school will seek work in hotels, restaurants as well as in the health and social care sector, for example in care homes.
